007 - 10 ways to empower your second brain with AI

How make your second brain infinitely more interesting and fun to use with AI!

Did you know AI is a powerful ally when interacting with your second brain?

The roles of a second brain are simple: help you deload information from your first (real) brain, assist in learning, storing and retrieving information.

It's a powerful tool many entrepreneurs, business owners, and students are adhering to so they can empower their routines, learning, and businesses.

You can enhance these actions with artificial intelligence by always keeping in mind the following questions: "how can this be even better?" and "what am I not seeing?" Be it referring a book you're reading, after watching a youtube video you'd like to revisit, or learning a subject.

This is going to be quite a different one for you if you're not familiarized with Artificial intelligence but are with the concept of a second brain.

If it's for some reason the other way around, pause 007 and go to 006 so you can understand — and maybe even build — your second brain, so this entry can make more sense to you.

AI is here to stay, and if you have a second brain, there are many ways you can use AI to enhance your day to day with your writings, study, work and whatever else you do in your second brain. Of course, beyond the obvious of Idea generation and the like.

There isn't a day I don't have ChatGPT open, and all these actions are mostly fairly quick inputs, some in trained bots (for example, one that knows a lot about my business), some are obvious, some aren't so obvious. Let's dive in.

10 ways to empower your second brain with AI

Table of Contents

Using AI to empower your learning

On this NotionExplorer article, I walk you through all the robots I trained in order to learn French in a few months.

You can load information into the robot — or, if you have NotionAI, have the information in the system — even when you haven't learned the information yet, so that the bot can act as a coach and assist you on learning.

Ask it to build lists for active recalling, summaries, explain like you're 5, and so on.

Example prompt:

"I want you to act as a [french teacher]. Here's some information (insert links) about the grammar rules, a dictionary, and on french phonetics. Output a list of the 300 most common phrases and their translation in english."

Using AI to improve your routine and habits

In SolopreneurOS, there's a simple habit tracker that allows you to daily check the habits you want to nurture.

At the end of the month, you can take a screenshot of all the entries and upload into ChatGPT (yes, even on the free version) or ask NotionAI to write an overview and how you can better your habits, give you ideas of routines, rituals, and give you a few prodding questions to help you unlock what you are failing the most on.

You can even take it a step further in SolopreneurOS, by writing a journal entry, creating a Personal Project related to an activity or skill you want to start doing or improving on, or even add an entire system for it, to ensure you make the best out of your routine, habit or skill.

Example prompt:

(upload a screenshot of your month's habit tracker) "Here's my habit tracker for the month of [August]. I want you to give me an in depth analysis of the tracker, tell me a few ideas to implement the ones I've failed most through connected habits, rituals and routines, and then output 6 monthly review questions for me to reflect on my journal."

Using AI to write you a perfect-day-in-life according to your goals

If you're keeping a second brain, chances are you're trying to achieve something much bigger than you, and therefore, you're probably also inclined to visualization and manifestation. You don’t want to lose track of your goals and most likely need to keep your mindset in as positive light as often as possible.

Train a robot to know all your goals and how you'd like to be in the future, down to style, clothing, posture.

Everyday in the morning, ask the bot to write a full day, like it's today and will happen now, with some of your goals as already reality, in fruition and use. This will give you a centered, positive energy to start your day with.

When you have your goals and possibility in mind, and involve the positive emotions you need to make things happen, you will most likely see opportunities and have new ideas to actually get there. It’s funny how these things work.

If you're doing admin day, ask it to write a day in which you're working on your business, looking at the calendar, answering emails, and so on.

Example prompt:

(insert a screenshot or a list of your goals, personality and general lifestyle you want. give as much information as you want) "These are my goals. I want you to narrate, in first person, a day in my life in which I'm (working in my business on the marketing side, working out in the morning, create social media content). Narrate the day as if it's happening now, with a lot of emotions, descriptions of people, smells, and so on to assist me in visualization."

After the output is ready, long press the bot's answer and click on read aloud or click on the 🔊 icon on web and listen with it, following the perfect day.

Copy your book highlights into Notion, then use AI to enhance your learning

Specifically to books now, you can sync your book notes if you read with a Kindle or iPad, or even your phone, with an app like Klib or Readwise.

Once you have the notes in your library in Notion (you can get the Solopreneur Bookshelf for free here) you can ask AI to create a summary of the book, how to apply the things you've learned in your life, create action bullets, a plan, project, tasks etc, according to the content of the book.

  • Get the best quotes from your notes and highlights

  • Create action plans with projects, tasks and subtasks

  • Recommend similar books

  • “Explain like I’m 5” when you don’t understand a passage

Get into the habit of doing this and reading will finally not be just a checklist on your tracker, specially on books you're not reading for entertainment.

There isn't so much a prompt, but a collection of things you can ask:

Explain this passage on the book like I'm 5: (sometimes I do this while reading, I just point the camera to the Kindle to copy the text I want and paste on the ChatGPT app. I always separate it by book)

Here are my highlights for (book + author). Give me a summary of the book, the most important concepts and a list of 10 actions points.

Asking AI to perform a summary of a Youtube video and format an entry

With Transcriptal (no, it's not sponsored), you can get Youtube videos transcribed and summarized for you, and then you can do whatever you want with that information: create action points, ask for further reference in reading, ask for a detailed summary, ask for some quotes that are relevant, and so on.

You can store and use the transcription later in ChatGPT or directly inside Notion.

I normally ask for ChatGPT to clean the text, as the transcription will sometimes catch filler words or add weird sound onomatopoeias, and I also ask it to format it nicely respecting the original content so I can store the content. This makes searching and reading the content later a lot more pleasant.

Using AI to break down complex projects

In Systemphoria 002, I explored how to use AI to help you break problems down into something more manageable to virtually eliminate any kind of anxiety that can stem from challenges and big changes.

In your second brain, you can create a project database connected (relation property) to a task database, and use the subitems to build a simple project management.

You can have a third database or a multiselect property for categories. Keep in mind you can get more fine grain categorization and filtering with a third database rather than a multiselect property. Now, you can also separate your second brain in categories that could be inspired from the Wheel of Life, from example.

Then, you connect that third database to your project database. You use these categories to work as your Wheel of life, and then build your future projects in it.

Example prompt:

I want to (move to Germany), I am (currently living in Finland), I also have an (Italian citizenship), and would like to (sell my iMac, donate clothes and other items such as books), make a list of main categories of actions I will have to take to make this move, everything I will have to take care of in Finland before moving, and what I will have to take care after I move.

Now, you want to break these down further, so you need a second prompt, after the response:

I will now insert the categories one by one, so we can break it down in smaller categories.

After you go through all the categories, insert them in your second brain. Now, for the third prompt:

I want to break down these (list them) sub categories into tasks. Help me with that.

I've separated the task database in the two subprojects, which is where I organised the tasks: before and after the move. I've color coded in green what I can do immediately, and in yellow what is undergoing, and left in grey what I can't tackle just now.

Here's what my move project looks like so you have an idea:

You can virtually do this for any major problem you encounter in your life, that kind that closes your throat and squeezes your heart. It will greatly reduce the "enormity" of the problem and help you gain momentum in your problem solving. I greatly recommend you read Systemphoria 002.

Develop learning paths for self learning subjects

I'm an autodidact, always been and always will be. I call myself, jokingly but yet very truthfully, a specialised generalist (thanks Dan Koe for coining this). I have a range of interests and if I want to keep learning all of the things I still yet don't know, I need to organise and be disciplined with when and how.

If you want to learn multiple subjects at once, and you're self learning, you know how difficult it is to but a timeline and schedule together — firstly, because you're entering an unknown path of things you yet don't know, so it can be a lot of guesswork to find how to start.

Secondly, you can't guess exactly how much other subjects or references you will need to best learn that subject you're trying to delve in, and how in depth the subject itself is.

Which is why AI can be so good in planning this for you, at different levels, so you're not left scatter brained. I still don't know how I learned Finnish 17 years ago without this knowledge, much less AI.

Example prompt:

I want to learn (French). I know virtually nothing of the subject and my goal is to (be conversational within a year). I want to study for 1h twice a week, so build a learning framework so that I can complete this, focusing on writing, speaking, listening and grammar. Suggest a few books and websites to assist me in learning. Separate the framework per month.

Using AI for personal color analysis

I've seen tons of videos on Tiktok about using AI to create a color palette that matches with skin tone in order to enhance choosing clothes that flatten one's complexion. And whilst they are really good videos and starting points, most people executed it just a bit incompletely.

You should do this to enhance your appearance by choosing clothes that complement your complexion and, for the ladies, selecting makeup shades (including concealer and foundation) that suit you best. This will help you better strategize your personal brand and how you present yourself to the world, be it socially or professionally.

First, you're going to upload 4 photos in ChatGPT (yes, you can do that for free) and ask it to do a color analysis for you. Make sure your eyes, eyebrows, hair, and face are unobstructed, without glasses or other accessories, and fully visible, and no one else is in the photos and you don't have a filter on these photos. Make up is ok as long as it's not heavy and you feel like it benefits you.

Example prompt:

here are 4 photos of me in different lighting conditions. I want you to give me a full color analysis, tell me my season and my undertone, then output a list of colors for me to use and another list for me to avoid. Then, you will output a list of 30 HEX codes in my palette. I actually went a bit further than 30.

I then threw these colors on a Figma file, and picked the ones I liked the most to narrow down even more, and then from there, I picked the initial colors for Adventurempire, which, even though it is its own entity, it's still mine.

Using AI to enhance your wardrobe (continuation from previous bot)

Once you've done the color analysis, you can take body measurements and store it in Notion, as well as "let the bot know". You can measure the length of your foot and the ladies can do the "breast cup" measurements as well, and even the circumference of your head if you like to wear hats or caps.

Example prompt: here are my body measurements. I want you to output a table with my sizes, in EU, UK, and US.

You should also, then, tell it what style you like (business casual, street, boho etc), and even upload Pinterest photos so it can suggest wardrobe changes. If you want to appear better dressed for a job, for example, you can ask the bot to suggest clothing for you to buy and even link to you in the right size since it has your body measurements.

I do this all the time when buying online and I can't decide which size to buy, I will screenshot or copy and paste the product measurement so it can tell me which size to buy.

In a later use, you can upload photos (or make a collage with your clothes) so it can suggest looks and combinations that fit your body type, your style and your color palette. You can store these fits in your second brain so that when you feel uninspired or lazy, you just have to check these entries.

You can also use an app like Whereby to put looks together and store them in your second brain. If you really want to display an image or if you have a personal brand, these are essential steps. To have something hand in a pinch is very efficient and effective.

For make up, you can tell the bot current products that fit your skin tone nicely and ask it to suggest current available products in the same or similar shade for you to try out next time you're out shopping. You can even go as far as uploading a photo of your face so it can suggest how to embolden your features with the right makeup techniques.

Similarly, when you want to buy new clothing for an event, you can ask it to scout the internet for possible garments or shoes, all fitting your style and complexion, and even go as far as asking what clothing to avoid.

It might seem like a lot of frivolity, but wait until you have an important meeting that you don't want to wear all drab, or a date, or an important event.

Using AI as a travel concierge

In SolopreneurOS, there's a dedicated travel system to help you organise travel bucket lists, itineraries, and sightseeing spots, and help you organise the pre purchase of train and museum tickets. This system can also be shared with your travel companions.

Example prompt:

I just bought tickets from (Lappeenranta to Bergamo and back) on the (16.08-24.08). I'm taking the bus from Bergamo to Milan, and from there, I'm going to Tirano, and then to Chur and taking the Bernina Express. I'm taking a big bag and a small cabin bag and a backpack, but before entering Switzerland, I will leave my big bag in Milan. Write a full list of what I shouldn't forget to take, keeping in mind that for 3 days I will only have a cabin bag and a backpack. Include toiletries essentials and a estimative of clothes I could take to have some flexibility in my looks, as well as the forecast of the weather.

Once you have a an idea of what you can take, for example, you can go back and forth with asking for itinerary suggestions, sighseeing spots, and such.

Example prompt: I arrive in Lago di Como at night, and I have 2 nights there. What should I not miss?

And just like that, you can put together an unforgettable trip, without limiting yourself to a set plan. Here's a bit of my Switzerland-Italy trip in August:

When keeping a second brain, the most important thing after storing and organising, is actually using that information for its purpose. These are just 10 ways I often use AI for more mundane tasks other than for work, but that keep my system interesting and engaging to use.
