016 - How to Explore Your Mind and Change Who You Are

My process for becoming unrecognisable in 6 months or less

"Thought is the key to altering our lives. He wanted readers to realize that 'they themselves are makers of themselves,' and that our thoughts are the method for this process." — James Allen, As a Man Thinketh

A Porsche, a summer house in Italy, a better job, your own business, a million euros. All very possible and plausible goals you might have right now. Or something along these lines.

They are possible, but if you were the person who already had these things, you'd have them now. You aren't.

So you end up frustrating yourself by thinking about your goals, feeling like you aren't going anywhere, and essentially giving up.

What many don’t see is that, to achieve anything, you first need to become that person. Changing yourself to align with your goals can be hard to grasp, but it’s essential.

There’s so much about you that makes up your “I” — your core self. Wishing for something isn’t enough unless you demand — yes, demand, because you need to be the boss of your mind, not the other way around — the qualities you need from yourself to be the person who achieves those things.

You’ve probably heard this idea before. But not many people break down the how, the method, or the strategy. That’s what we’ll cover now.

From this point on, I ask for your attention, focus, a piece of paper, and a pen.

The Cave Mode Protocol

My first Cave Mode began when I was 13, although I didn’t call it that. It had no name; my family called it my “Finland obsession.” It lasted seven years, not six months, partly because I was young and unprepared.

But you aren’t underage or unprepared, so you can apply this protocol and change your life in just six months.

The Cave Mode protocol includes 3 fixed pillars and 3 dynamic pillars to help you build focus, direction, and the foundation — or even complete realization — of your transformation.

Habit creates routine, and routine shapes personality. Everything can change if you embrace change and don’t resist it. The idea is to mold yourself into the person who has the things you want.

Improving your intellect, health, and mental strength are the essential pillars — the foundation. We’ll talk about these fixed pillars separately.

Seeing where you need to improve to become that person is an art. Facing your weaknesses, doubling down on strengths, and reshaping what can be molded are necessary steps. No one else can do this for you or recognize these traits on your behalf.

You need to fortify your mind, strengthen your body, and invest in yourself like no one else will. I can only give you the puzzle pieces — assembling them is your task.

The Fixed Pillars

The fixed pillars of the Cave Mode are non-negotiable.

The first pillar is intellectual growth. This means building better habits, reading more, journaling for self-reflection, acquiring necessary skills, and maintaining mental clarity to adjust your course as needed.

It also means clearing obstacles that hinder your development: unsupportive friends, toxic environments, or anything else that limits your progress.

I’m not saying to abandon people. I’m saying scrutinize and become aware of their effects on you. The pursuit of your goals may lead you to new relationships that better fit your evolving self.

You can’t build a new version of yourself with the old one in the way. This pillar helps you break out of your current state, like a lizard shedding its skin.

The second pillar is health. You can’t climb figurative or literal mountains with poor health. This includes better eating habits, proper supplementation, medical checkups, muscle building, and enough exercise to keep you fit, along with knowing when to rest.

There are three types of rest: physical rest (napping, lounging), mental rest (hobbies that use your hands), and soulful rest (meditation, lying in silence).

The third pillar is mental strength. This involves reducing dopamine-driven distractions, consistent self-reflection, meditation, and learning to conduct self-assessments.

You have to decide what’s non-negotiable in these pillars. I carry my Kindle everywhere because reading is non-negotiable. I don’t skip the gym unless I’m sick, and I open my journal in Obsidian every day to write at least one line. These actions will compound over six months, changing you from the inside out. You’ll notice the change, as will others.

The Dynamic Pillars

You can select up to three other areas of focus, such as finances, devotion, business development, or nurturing relationships. Use the same principles as with the fixed pillars for each.

Determine what’s non-negotiable, set routines, track your metrics, and put these concepts into practice.

As mentioned earlier: habit shapes routine, and routine shapes personality. Whether you aim to become a more attentive partner, a balanced boss, or a resilient entrepreneur, change doesn’t happen randomly — it is cultivated.
